Priorities
-
Indiana’s Public Schools need to be funded at their pre-2008 level. Access to resources shouldn’t depend on zip code and all children deserve to receive a quality education.
The continued expansion of career and technical educational paths to meet the needs of Southwestern Indiana’s evolving workforce needs.
At the center of thriving communities are strong public schools. Investment in public schools is an investment in the future.
-
Expand and promote collective bargaining to ensure a safe, equitable workplace for all workers.
Ensure energy costs are affordable to ratepayers.
Expand on workforce development partnerships in the area to prepare students for jobs right here in Indiana.
-
Fight to protect Medicaid/HIP access for our most vulnerable Hoosiers.
Expand CHIP (Hoosier Healthwise) access for children under 18 and remove unnecessary eligibility barriers to children receiving medical care.
Lower the exorbitant cost of prescription drugs; especially for our neighbors on fixed incomes.
-
Childcare issues are huge factors in determining labor force participation. Indiana needs to have paid leave laws for Hoosier working parents.
Parents are spending more than ever while care options are limited with long waitlists for dependable care. Investment into more childcare facilities will open up more economic opportunities for parents in Indiana.
Hoosier workers are sacrificing wage-earning potential and educational attainment to accommodate Indiana’s outdated childcare policies.
-
Public media is a treasure for the communities it serves and should continue to be funded.
Access to relevant local and educational programming creates a strong community spirit.
Cuts to public higher education institutions leaves administration and faculty with less resources to function properly.
